DESIGN COMPETITION // CFDA-LEXUS ECO-FASHION CHALLENGE AWARD

Wednesday

COMPETITION:

Applications are now being accepted for the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America/Lexus Eco-Fashion Challenge, an award competition which celebrates and rewards the leaders in sustainable design practices.
Founded in 2010 to raise awareness and demonstrate both the CFDA’s and Lexus’ commitment to sustainable practices, the Challenge was created to identify and support American fashion brands that are dedicated to “better design” – those who have incorporated sustainable practices into the design process, sourcing, production and shipping of their work. The goal is to inspire and inform others so that they might make more considered choices in the future. Previous winners include Natalie Chanin of Alabama Chanin in 2013 and jewelry designers Melissa Joy Manning and Pamela Love in 2012.
In order to qualify for the Challenge, designers’ Fall/Winter 2015 collection must contain no less than 30% eco fabrics or materials. Applications will be judged by a selection committee who will evaluate the applicant’s dedication to ecologically responsible and sustainable design and production, ability to inspire an eco-attitude in consumers and the community, originality and the creativity, and presence of eco fabrics and materials.
PRIZES:
- One (1) Grand Prize of $75,000
